Ziotech's Vacuforms specializes in vacuum forming end
products for the individual, small companies and corporations.
What is the Vacuum Forming process?
Vacuum
forming, commonly known as vacuforming, is a simplified version of
thermoforming, whereby a sheet of plastic is heated to a forming
temperature, stretched onto or into a single-surface mold, and held
against the mold by applying vacuum between the mold surface and the
sheet.
What is made by Vacuum Forming?
The vacuum forming process can be used to make a
variety of items. Today, the list is almost endless, including: "Blister" and "bubble" display packaging, speaker casings, plastic cups, plates, and bowls, food trays, tubs, containers, garden pots and plant starter trays, remote control car bodies, soft candy molds, soap molds, candle molds, hot tubs and spas, car dashboards, shower liners, ornaments, decorations, movie props to boat hulls. Vacuum forming will give any product a professional appearance and is very cost effective.
What kind of materials are used in Vacuum
Forming?
Materials used in vacuum forming are conventionally thermoplastics,
and even Food and Drug Administration (FDA) food grade plastics for candy
molds or where food is in touch with the plastic. These special types
of plastics are molded around a wood, structural foam or cast/machined
aluminum molds and can form to almost any shape. Vacuum forming is
also appropriate for transparent materials such as acrylic which are
widely used in applications for aerospace such as PCW (passenger cabin
windows) canopies for military fixed wing aircraft and "bubbles" for
rotary wing aircraft.
What is unique about Ziotech's Vacuforms service?
First of all, you are in the driver's seat! After all, it is your requirements that we want to meet. Ziotech products always begin with your input and concept. From concept, we begin the process of design to making the mold (or buck as it is called in the trade). Tests are then conducted to make sure the buck provides the correct design and meets your input and concept. Once all aspects are approved by you, the production begins.
